Is moving home or improving your home one of your goals for this year?

We have been reading in the last couple of months all interior design and home building blogs and magazines that looked what is on trend this week when it comes to interior design and home building in 2019.

But should you follow Interior Design/ homebuilding trends or avoid them?

We truly believe a good design project should, first of all, be designed to last over time. This means going beyond current trends, which change instantly fast.

So now the question is: why do we keep talking about trends in this blog? Because we want to help you make the decision easier when you extend your home or have a loft conversion and choose quality products that will last over time.

1. Don’t Move Improve/Improve

With Brexit looming over UK this year, we can see a clear trend in the housing market. While people will hold on to their plans to move house we think this year will be the year of improvements and expansion of our current homes.

So, if you think this year has to be on standby until the waters settle a bit, this doesn’t mean that you cannot create the dream home by improving and expanding your home. Whether that means a home extension or a loft conversion we can help you reach this dream. All you need to do is to give us a call and discuss the details and we will take care of the rest

2. Colour of the year

Back in December Pantone announced the Colour of the year. We will see the “Living Coral“, a vibrant, pretty, daring colour in your clothing, tech gadgets, home decor and more come 2019. If you are looking to add a touch of it into your home, check out this article from Homes& Property to see how you can add Living Coral to your home.

But don’t panic, grey still has a place and according to House Beautiful matte black will be the new ‘it’ colour across homes and interiors in 2019. And we love it. There are so many ways you can use black in your home without being overpowering. You can check out their article here.

From doors to desk lamps they have great ideas on how to use Matte Black across interiors and homewares, too.

3. Shopping responsibly and sustainably

Sustainable, Handmade Pieces using materials like jute, rice paper, and clay will be setting the trend in 2019. People will use these elements in their homes as a way to feel more in touch with the earth and their roots. Check out the Upcyclist eco-friendly furniture for inspiration.
